Designing for instruction should be clean, simple and not cumbersome. The learner in a virtual context should feel that learning experience is seamless, intuitive, and predictable. When these ingredients are in place, learners can be more focused on the content rather than navigating an unfamiliar landscape.  Ultimately, the goal of instructional design is to engage the learner into learning.

“What is design? It’s where you stand with a foot in two worlds –
the world of technology and the world of people and human purposes –
and you try to bring the two together.” – Mitchell Kapor
