When we look at our food, what do we actually notice? Do we see shape, color, light, and the negative space that frames it? Savoring Through the Lens emerged from my desire to show others what I see when working with food—how every ingredient becomes a visual experience before it becomes a flavor.
The idea that “you eat with your eyes” is more than a cliché; it’s a fundamental truth. The appearance of a dish shapes our expectations long before the first bite. Color, form, and presentation guide our anticipation, influence how we perceive flavor, and often determine our desire to taste at all.
This project explores that connection between sight and appetite, revealing how visual storytelling transforms food into something we don’t just consume—but experience.
